Why take the time to consider our thoughts?
Our perspectives of ourselves, others, and the future is the framework we use to interpret events around us and make sense of the world. If we are not careful with the stories that we are telling ourselves, they may turn out to be self-defeating.
The goal of our work is not to simply find narratives that are toxic but to optimize the stories to leverage the power of our innate background thinking to our greatest benefit. The narratives are happening whether they are helpful, hindering or simply wasted energy is up to each of us to determine.
